Amber, not orange, wine
The new wave of white wine that is known as either orange wine or amber wine is starting to find its place in the main stream market. These wines are produced by a vinification method similar to red wine. That is, fermentation on grape skins is utilised resulting in a finished wine that may show an orange, amber or even bronze colour.
Run by Geoff Scollary, this class will explore the production process and sensory characteristics for some Australian and overseas wines in comparison to conventional white wine making. Together we will draw up a list of sensory descriptors for aroma, colour and palate. Be prepared for something different.
